Double Up 4 Vision is more than just a tandem bike ride and walk to fight vision loss; it's a celebration of an ideal, where you are not defined and confined by limitations, but set free to ride, walk and enjoy life in a spirit of mutual respect and unity.
By riding together and walking together -- in tandem -- you and your fellow Double Up 4 Vision participants become a living, breathing beacon of hope.
Double Up 4 Vision starts with an incredible 24-hour relay ride, where sighted "Pilots" and visually impaired "Stokers" ride tandem bicycles through all five boroughs of New York. It's an exhilarating and sustained expression of the power of cooperation. Each visually impaired rider has a compelling story about facing the challenges of vision loss and overcoming them.
The last tandem team from the 24-hour relay starts the ride and walk on the following day, where people of all ages and of all backgrounds, visually impaired and sighted, join together to ride tandem bicycles and walk in a festive atmosphere unlike any other.
